Put a Price on Carbon Pollution Prize for Best Short Film: “Climate Countdown: Carbon Pricing” by director Kaia Rose, USA

The winners were announced at the United Nations Climate Conference (COP22) at a day celebrating the power of youth, cinema and the creative industries to generate climate action and tackle climate change.

Youth at COP22 in Marrakech, Morocco share messages to their peers and to current world leaders on the importance of working with the younger generation to solve the problems of climate change.

Showcasing the work undertaken with and by youth is crucial for mobilizing climate action and influencing governments to act upon the new climate agreement.

This web-series – Climate Countdown – maps out what scientists, activists, policy makers and citizens are actually doing to solve the climate change problem. It explores different facets of this complex issue and break it down into bite- sized bits.

Kaia Rose (BA 2010) is a filmmaker based in New York. She launched her web series, Climate Countdown, in 2015, aiming to break down the complex issue of climate change, and determine what scientists, activists, policy makers and citizens are doing to help solve the problem. We spoke to Kaia about climate change, Climate Countdown, and the recent COP21 summit in Paris.

With the Eiffel Tower behind them, Kaia Rose and Eric Mann, two young filmmakers creating a Web series called “Climate Countdown,” described their learning curve on video blogging and climate diplomacy.
