This is the Beginning, from I to We

DIRECTED BY KAIA ROSE AND TOBIAS SHAW, EDITED BY KAIA ROSE, Excerpt from The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck

The Grapes of Wrath is one of my favourite books and this passage is just as relevant today as it was when it was written. This is a very personal piece, created with my brother and using the voices and moving portraits of us, our parents, Valerie Brinton and George Reid, and our dear friends Jeff & Carey McKinnon to tell this story. The locations we used are around the area in Southern California where we grew up, including the train tracks on the Carpinteria Bluffs where we used to play.

Looking Forward to Yesterday

WRITTEN & DIRECTED BY KAIA ROSE AND NICK WILDING

This short film is about a man who experiences his life - and love - in reverse.  The story revolves around the day that the love of his life meets him for the very first time, which means it is also the last time he will ever see her.  Created as our dissertation project at the University of Bristol, the film premiered at Rooftop Films in New York City and was picked up for distribution by IndieFlix

The Picnic

WRITTEN AND DIRECTED BY KAIA ROSE

Harkening back to a time where gypsies and gentlemen roamed the hills of California and I was a senior in high school, The Picnic is a silent film that I directed when I was seventeen.  My first foray into the fictional genre, you can see how the likes of Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton were large influences on my early aspirations of becoming a filmmaker.
