Juilliard
The Juilliard School
Since the spring of 2015, Unreel Films has created over 400 videos for Juilliard, producing essentially all of their video content from across all of their departments - I have been lucky enough to work on a variety of these projects as an editor, 1st Assistant Director, sound person, and camera operator.
A Day in the Life
edited by kaia rose
The Day in the Life series offers a glimpse into what it's like to be a student at Juilliard by following one student from each division of study around for an entire day. They are essentially mini documentaries and one of my favorite editing tasks. For each of these videos, I have been given a brief alongside the interview and B-roll footage and from that I have created a script and edited together the final video that not only captures the student's day but also the energy of that department.
Commercials
EDITED BY KAIA ROSE AND ERIC MANN
For each of these commercials, I helped with pre-production planning and script writing, acted as Assistant Director on set for the one-day shoot, and then co-edited with Eric Mann the following day to present Juilliard with a first draft of the ad as quickly as possible. The commercial for Music Theory 101 was presented at SXSWedu 2017 by Juilliard's president Joseph Polisi.
Juilliard Inside Look
edited by kaia rose
For all of the videos that I edit for Juilliard, I am given a brief outlining the goals of the video along with the accompanying interview and B-roll footage. I am then charged with creating the narrative structure, putting together the script, and editing the entire video together with direction from Eric Mann at Unreel Films.
One-Day Turnarounds
EDITED BY KAIA ROSE AND ERIC MANN
For some special events Juilliard has called on us to do special quick turnarounds so that the accompanying video can be released when the memory of the gala, graduation or orientation is fresh in everyone's minds. With 'Welcome Back Juilliard', we were given an extra exciting challenge: to do the final editing in almost real time. When we screened the video at Orientation, we surprised the students by including footage from a performance they had seen only minutes before.
