8 minutes idle

production managed by kaia rose

The day I began working at ArthurCox, their first feature film 8 minutes idle made it into the final round of iFeatures funding.  Four years later, days after I moved back to the US, we celebrated the film's cinema release.  Throughout that entire time, I assisted producer Sarah Cox in managing all aspects of production from pre-production through to post-production and distribution.

Power to Heal: The Fight for Healthcare Justice

archive & Post-Production manager: kaia rose

Power to Heal is a PBS documentary about how Medicare was used to desegregate American hospitals in 1966.  It is currently in post-production and I am managing all archive material for the hour-long film as well as managing the post-production process, assisting with editing, and doing archive research.  The film is directed by Daniel Loewenthal and produced by Barbara Berney.

Animation

A Liar's Autobiography: The Untrue Story of Monty Python's Graham Chapman

FIVE ANIMATED SEGMENTS PRODUCED BY KAIA ROSE

This feature film premiered at Toronto International Film Festival and is a unique look into the only openly gay / closeted alcoholic member of Monty Python.  Graham Chapman, back from the dead, plays himself (via recordings of him reading from his autobiography) alongside fellow Pythons John Cleese, Terry Jones, Terry Gilliam and Michael Palin.

The filmmakers Bill + Ben decided to utilize 15 different animation companies from across the UK to animate different segments of Graham's life.  While working for ArthurCox, I produced five of those sections, directed by Matthew Walker and George Sander-Jackson.  The final result is a feature 'documentary' that tells the story of Graham's life in his own words (with varying degrees of factual accuracy but a whole lot of heart and silliness) using 17 different animation styles.  Oh and in stereoscopic 3D.

Durrell Wildlife Conservation - The Lonely Dodo

Produced by Helen Argo for Aardman

Production Managed by Kaia Rose for ArthurCox

Written and Directed by Matthew Walker and starring Stephen Fry as the Frog, this short film was part of a wider campaign to raise awareness about species on the verge of extinction.  Animated in Flash, I supervised the production in the ArthurCox studios and worked closely with the producers at Aardman throughout.

Disney Jr - Nina Needs To Go

produced by kaia rose

Nina Needs To Go is a BAFTA-nominated TV series directed by Sarah Cox that I produced for broadcast on Disney Junior in the US.  Working with both the LA and London Disney offices, I was responsible for cash flowing, crewing, scheduling and keeping the production on budget as well as communicating with the legal department about contracts and clearances.  The first season aired in January 2014 and was comprised of ten 2.5min episodes.
